California has escaped another consecutive year of drought. However, this summer water conservation should remain a priority. Below are ten tips of conservation as written in the Daily Real Estate News.
- Water your lawn only when it needs it. Your lawn needs water if you can walk across grass and leave footprints.
- Water in the early morning. 30 % of water can be lost to evaporation by watering during midday.
- Set your lawn mower one notch higher
- Use drip irrigation hoses
- Use a broom instead of a hose
- Forego the hose and wash your car with a bucket and sponge instead
- Keep a bottle of cold tap water in the refrigerator
- Run dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are full
- Adjust the water level of your clothes washer
- Regularly check your toilet, faucets and pipes for leaks.
