Malibu Vacation Home | Malibu Real Estate | Pacific Coast Highway

California has escaped another consecutive year of drought. However, this summer water conservation should remain a priority. Below are ten tips of conservation as written in the Daily Real Estate News.

  • Water your lawn only when it needs it. Your lawn needs water if you can walk across grass and leave footprints.
  • Water in the early morning. 30 % of water can be lost to evaporation by watering during midday.
  • Set your lawn mower one notch higher
  • Use drip irrigation hoses
  • Use a broom instead of a hose
  • Forego the hose and wash your car with a bucket and sponge instead
  • Keep a bottle of cold tap water in the refrigerator
  • Run dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are full
  • Adjust the water level of your clothes washer
  • Regularly check your toilet, faucets and pipes for leaks.
